Tip for TOEFL reading inference question: from general to specific

 

Hi, I will give you one tip for TOEFL reading inference questions.
Tip: If the key sentence talks about a specific example, read a few sentences before the sentence that makes a general statement. The example is an instance of the general statement.
Application of this tip:
Question: Benefit of owning red gloss pottery
Key sentence: Red gloss pottery…
Sentence before this sentence: Possession of the new objects was associated with social status.
